My fiance and I were excited about everything right after we got engaged, but life has gotten busy and so have both of us. Since our wedding is over a year away, I'm finding myself feeling discontent over my wedding plans! We're so happy, but I was wondering if you had any advice on sparking that excitement towards wedding planning?
Wedding planning is so much fun but definitely can be overwhelming and become daunting! But GOOD FOR YOU for getting busy with other stuff and not letting it run your life! With so much time, it’s easy to lose the excitement. But don’t beat yourself up for not being the “over-excited-on-the-ball-I-have-no-life-wedding-planning-bride”.
Here are a few things you could try. I would highly recommend doing #1 no matter what…
1. Give yourself a purposeful break and don’t feel bad about it. Do nothing wedding related for a week or two or even a month. Focus on other things. Make wedding planning miss YOU.
2. Relive the engagement. Go to the restaurant, park, or like event the engagement happened and just get excited about it all over again.
3. Spark up the best qualities of you and your fiance’s connection. This is kinda cheesy, but a great way to do this is to write a note, letter, or song for your fiance. Remind each other why you love each other and chosen to spend the rest of your lives together. Nothing gets people motivated and excited like honest encouragement from someone they love.
4. Help a friend plan a wedding. Sometimes it’s more fun helping someone else a bit than working on your own. Use your experience so far to help someone else who is struggling. You may come up with some new ideas for your own.
5. Take your engagement pictures. If you haven’t already, this is a great way to reconnect with each other and it’s kind of a restart to the planning process. Especially when you receive the images*, you can design guestbooks, center pieces, slideshows, stationery, and unique items that include the pictures.
*How you can receive and use your images varies with each photographer. Please check with your photographer first about their policies for usage rights, product design, purchasing, etc.
I hope that helps! Good luck! Just breathe! And remember:
A wedding is suppose to reflect the best of you and your fiance’s relationship as well as celebrate your new beginning surrounded by your closest friends and family.
